    JOSH Description
Karachi, Pakistan - buzzing with 12 million people, where you’re as likely to hear a riot as a call to prayer. A colorful palette of flavorful existence. The majority of the population eek out a meager existence, whilst the upper echelon live in the lap of luxury oblivious, or perhaps immune, to the surrounding poverty, with one exception - Fatima Khawaja. Patriotic, Western educated, and idealistic, Fatima wants to bring change to Pakistan, NOW.

She and her four friends are a colorful representation of Pakistani youth. Adil, the hopeless, depressed artist who also happens to be the love interest; Uzair, Adil's friend and Fatima's nemesis who thinks politics is the only way out; his sheepish girlfriend Shizra, who can't help but notice Fatima's fierceness spark passion in Uzair; and Zeeshan, Fatima's childhood friend and the comic relief of the group. Often opposed by the group, Fatima still strongly believes that education is the answer to everything. A series of quick crashes and burns emanating from her idealism and lack of collaboration, force her to re-evaluate. She realizes the extent of poverty; people need to survive before she can show them the light of the pen. Encouraged by all, she reorients her first mission to be a food kitchen called KHANA GHAR (food house)in a shanty town, KHUDA KI BASTI (God’s Place). Even this goal is severely obstructed as the town's feudal landlord resists outside help anticipating a power struggle over his debtors. In their journeys of learning how to effectively help alongside their desire to help and in facing a traditionally conservative and old Pakistan, Fatima and her friends inspiringly stimulate a climactic youth movement against the goons of the town and successfully launch KHANA GHAR.

Musically intense and colorfully draped, JOSH takes a sneak preview at Pakistan today, the way you didn't know it!
