Doc Financing Online April 3 10 TO 12pm PST Description
Filmaking requires many skills, writing, directing, producing, knowledge of legal facts, computer skills. You are in fact very much like an entrepreneur. You must have these skills, but you also need a certain attitude and money to make a successful film. Most filmmakers are highly creative, however when they come to the fundraising part - they freeze. Asking for money can sometimes end their promising careers. The “ask” is all in your belief system. It’s like Henry Ford said, “If you believe you can or if you believe you can’t, you’re right!”

I know how hard it is to make an “ask,” I do it all the time raising funds for my nonprofit organization, From the Heart Productions and for goods and services for the Roy W. Dean Video and Editing Grants. There are tricks to the trade that every filmmaker should know. Your attitude and the foundation for funding your film are the most important elements in funding. These are a few of the tricks to the trade that we work on in my seminars.

Raising money is not a tested science. Finding funds for your film is more like quantum physics. Things keep changing all the time, the only constant is … change. A key factor to obtaining funds is your pitch, which will change as you become more familiar with your film. Your pitch changes because you pay attention to what works. Your trailer may change two or three times for the same reason. Raising funds requires the same understanding to change. It is as much an art and craft as that of creating a story and making a film that holds together. You need your funding to hold together as well. You are not alone in this challenge – every filmmaker faces the obstacles of raising money.

Join me for a TWO HOUR on line seminar on creating the mind-set and materials for funding your film. We cover many important ways to cut costs from the bottom line. How to make your ask, when to make it and what to do after you get the donation are all things we cover. I also believe that getting your purpose as a filmmaker and your vision for the future set in your DNA will give you and your donors more confidence in you and your film. I can explain in the class how much this means to potential donors and how easily they can tell if you are fully committed.

This class is designed to help you fund your film. My job is to teach you how to create an award winning proposal based on the hundreds of proposals I review each year. What do the winners put in their proposals that others don’t? That’s what we cover in this class. I teach you the tricks to creating a working, fund- raising pitch, which has to be the most important part of your funding process. First the pitch then the proposal. These two have to be dynamite and they let your donor see your passion, your knowledge and your commitment for the film.

Next is how to close people, neither the pitch nor the proposal is any good if you can’t close the donor.

Early registration will give you a 15 minute personal consultation after I review your materials.

Things we cover in the Seminar:

    The pitch
    The proposal
    Finding the money!
How to ask for money, guidance and support on your film
Creating an “ask” to get free goods and services for your film
Closing your donor and getting your donation now!!

You will RECEIVE BY EMAIL AFTER THE CLASS:

    1. A list of over 100 film funding organizations and a list of web sites for funding with over 10,000 places to go for funding.

    2. Written materials for creating your proposals & a copy of an award winning proposal 3. A list of 43 things to do to create a money-making funding party. The second edition of The Art of Film Funding book has great ideas on funding your film and we work from this book. We focus on, how to pitch your story, how to get discounts and donations, how to approach your potential funders and what to say to make that special connection for current and long term associations with individuals and grantors.

When you register to buy the seminar I will give you a special 15% discount on both of my books, The Financing and the Manifesting book and the 2 DVD set from a one day seminar of Film Financing.

The cost is $49.00 and if you register early you can have a free 15 minute consultation. You can email me your proposal and I will review it. You can do this before or after the class. Or, we can discuss funding concepts for your specific film.
