IS WAR INEVITABLE – Description
Most people believe war is inevitable because it is fixed in our violent, power-hungry, venal, vengeful human nature; or because we must stop the Hitlers; or because the oppressed must rise up to be free; or because “they” got what “we” want. Some people say belief in sustained peace is Utopian: naïve at best, dangerously irresponsible at worst. Is any of this true?
Everybody used to know the sun revolved around the flat earth. But the overwhelming obviousness of those “facts” did not make them true. Is the “inevitability of war” another “fact” that needs to be replaced with truth?
A growing body of hard scientific evidence demonstrates that human beings are more plastic (adaptable) and reality less fixed than heretofore believed. From Shakespeare to Einstein, great thinkers have been saying that humans create their reality with thought and feeling, thus:
Is it possible that wars occur because we believe they are inevitable?
Emmy winning screenwriter and documentary producer-writer-director, Vickie Patik, will interview international experts in the humanities, sciences and religion, including Nobel Laureates and Pulitzer Prize winning authors. Their insights will be edited into an escalating and controversial debate interspersed with stunning visual clips of creative, non-violent actions that led to the ousting of dictators or the thwarting or ending of wars.
This is an exciting time. Peace is staring us in the face if we will see it and believe in it more than we believe in war. Is War Inevitable is one, long overdue tool in the process to get us there.
